IS ROMAN CATHOLICISM CHRISTIAN?

[Scroll down to the bottom and start the video so it can be loading as you read this article.]

INTRODUCTION:

For Catholics who read this, please remember this: the person that tells you the truth is the one that cares.

Practically all precepts of the Roman Catholic "Church" contradict the Bible. This will be demonstrated later in the text of this article.

The atrocities committed by the Roman Catholicism are numerous. During the Inquisition and the Crusades, the Roman Catholic "Church" murdered millions primarily to crush opposition to the pope. Catholic Inquisitors imprisoned, tortured, crippled, and burned millions of people.

"Baptismal regeneration" and "infant baptism"... have, according to the testimony of well-established history, caused the shedding of more Christian blood, as the centuries have gone by, than all other errors combined.... Over 50,000,000 Christians died martyr deaths, mainly because of their rejection of these two errors during the period of the "dark ages" alone--about twelve or thirteen centuries....If 50,000,000 died of persecution during the 1,200 years of what are called the "Dark Ages," as history seems positively to teach--then they died faster than an average of four million every one hundred years. That seems almost beyond the limit of, human conception. (The Trail of Blood by J. M. Carroll)

This fact in it's self is evidence enough to prove that the Roman Catholic "Church" is not Christian. The Bible says, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)." (2 Cor 10:3-4). Christians "wrestle not against flesh and blood" and our only offensive weapon is "the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God" (Eph 6:12, 17). Christians persuade folks to salvation not with fire and torture, but through reasoning with them out of the Word of God. In Matthew 20:25-28 the Lord Jesus said, "...Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."

Popes do not do this Biblical principal, nor has Romanism ever given a satisfactory apology for the gross atrocities committed in the name of the Pope. The Roman Catholic "Church" is the most murderous and bloodthirsty organization that has ever existed. It's wrath is especially focused toward those who believe and obey the Word of God.

The Roman Catholic Church has never been the true church. It began (313 AD) almost 300 years to late to be the true church of Christ . It started with the Roman Emperor Constintine who saw a vision and "converted" to "Christendom". He had his army run through a river and declared that baptism and them Christians, married his new church with the state, brought in idolatry, persecuted the real Christians and believed in baptismal regeneration. Romanism has been corrupt from it's inception.

There are at least four major reasons that we know that the Roman Catholic Church is not Christ's Church:

1. Wrong doctrinal teachings.

2. Wrong origin.

3. Wrong methods of gaining converts.

4. It is identified in Scripture and an imposter.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

The office and title of the Roman Pontifix Maximus is not Christian at all, but rather has Babylonian roots. It was inherited by the Roman Empire at the death of Attalus III, King of Pergamos, 445 years before Constintine came to power. Attalus had inherited the title from the Babylonian priesthood who fled Babylon when "Darius the Median took the kingdom" of Babylon in the days of Daniel (Dan 5:31). Alexander Hislop gives the history of it. He says:

"The true legitimate Babylonian Pontiff had his seat beyond the bounds of the Roman empire. That seat, after the death of Belshazzar, and the expulsion of the Chaldean priesthood from Babylon by the Medo-Persian kings, was at Pergamos, where afterwards was one of the seven churches of Asia. There, in consequence, for many centuries was "Satan's seat" (Rev 2:13). There, under favour of the deified kings of Pergamos, was his favourite abode, there was the worship of Aesculapius, under the form of the serpent, celebrated with frantic orgies and excesses, that elsewhere were kept under some measure of restraint. At first, the Roman Pontiff had no immediate connection with Pergamos and the hierarchy there; yet, in course of time, the Pontificate of Rome and the Pontificate of Pergamos came to be identified. Pergamos itself became part and parcel of the Roman empire, when Attalus III, the last of its kings, at his death, left by will all his dominions to the Roman people, BC 133. For some time after the kingdom of Pergamos was merged in the Roman dominions, there was no one who could set himself openly and advisedly to lay claim to all the dignity inherent in the old title of the kings of Pergamos. The original powers even of the Roman Pontiffs seem to have been by that time abridged, but when Julius Caesar (BC 46), who had previously been elected Pontifex Maximus, became also, as Emperor, the supreme civil ruler of the Romans, then, as head of the Roman state, and head of the Roman religion, all the powers and functions of the true legitimate Babylonian Pontiff were supremely vested in him, and he found himself in a position to assert these powers. Then he seems to have laid claim to the divine dignity of Attalus, as well as the kingdom that Attalus had bequeathed to the Romans, as centering in himself; for his well-known watchword, "Venus Genetrix," which meant that Venus was the mother of the Julian race, appears to have been intended to make him "The Son" of the great goddess, even as the "Bull-horned" Attalus had been regarded. Then on certain occasions, in the exercise of his high pontifical office, he appeared of course in all the pomp of the Babylonian costume, as Belshazzar himself might have done, in robes of scarlet, with the crosier of Nimrod in his hand, wearing the mitre of Dagon and bearing the keys of Janus and Cybele." (Hislop, The Two Babylons, pp. 240, 241)

"Here, then, in Rome was Teitan, or Satan, identified with the "serpent that taught mankind," that opened their eyes (when, of course, they were blind), and gave them "the knowledge of good and evil." In Pergamos, and in all Asia Minor, from which directly Rome derived its knowledge of the Mysteries, the case was the same. In Pergamos, especially, where pre-eminently "Satan's seat was," the sun-divinity, as is well known, was worshipped under the form of a serpent and under the name of Aesculapius, "the man-instructing serpent." According to the fundamental doctrine of the Mysteries, as brought from Pergamos to Rome, the sun was the one only god. Teitan, or Satan, then, was thus recognised as the one only god; and of that only god, Tammuz or Janus, in his character as the Son, or the woman's seed, was just an incarnation. Here, then, the grand secret of the Roman Empire is at last brought to light--viz., the real name of the tutelar divinity of Rome. That secret was most jealously guarded..." (Hislop, The Two Babylons, p. 279)

"How comes it that this system, of all others, can so prevail as to get that physical force to obey its behests? No answer can be given but this, that Satan, the god of this world, exerts his highest power in its behalf. Physical force has not always been on the side of the Chaldean worship of the Queen of Heaven. Again and again has power been arrayed against it; but hitherto every obstacle it has surmounted, every difficulty it has overcome. Cyrus, Xerxes, and many of the Medo-Persian kings, banished its priests from Babylon, and laboured to root it out of their empire; but then it found a secure retreat in Pergamos, and "Satan's seat" was erected there. The glory of Pergamos and the cities of Asia Minor departed; but the worship of the Queen of Heaven did not wane. It took a higher flight, and seated itself on the throne of Imperial Rome. That throne was subverted. The Arian Goths came burning with fury against the worshippers of the Virgin Queen; but still that worship rose buoyant above all attempts to put it down, and the Arian Goths themselves were soon prostrate at the feet of the Babylonian goddess, seated in glory on the seven hills of Rome." (Hislop, The Two Babylons, p. 288)

This history lesson makes the already clear meaning of Revelation 2:12-17 and chapter 17 even clearer.

REVELATION 2:12-29 (PERGAMOS AND THYATIRA):

JESUS SPEAKS TO PERGAMOS:

"And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; 13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. 14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Re 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

JESUS SPEAKS TO THYATIRA:

"And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; 19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. 24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 28 And I will give him the morning star. 29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

IDENTIFICATION OF CATHOLICISM IN THE CHURCH AGE:

Even though these passages were written to the local churches at Pergamos and Thyatira they also symbolically represent two of the seven periods of the Church Age (i.e. "the things which are" - Rev 1:19). Pergamos stands for the Compromised Period (AD 313 to 590). The word Pergamos literally means "much" (per) "marrage" (gamos). Our English words polygamy and bigamy have their root in this Greek word. The symbolism is clear. It was during this period that Emperor Constantine (AD 306-337) married paganism and the state with some of the compromising churches. Pergamos precedes Thyatira (Rev 2:18-29) which symbolizes the Period of the Papacy (AD 590-1517). The meaning of the word Thyatira is "continual sacrifice" which is what the Catholic Mass / Eucharist is. These two periods prophetically represent Catholicism in history. The Lord Jesus warned the churches of Pergamos and Thyatira, and all mixed up in Catholicism, "I have a few things against thee" (Rev 2:14, 20). Note the symbolic language that perfectly symbolizes Catholicism:

1. "...thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication." (Rev 2:14) This refers to a fascinating story from the Old Testament book of Numbers (chapters 22 through 24) where the prophet Balaam was hired by Balak, king of the Moabites, to curse Israel. Balaam tried repeatedly, but God would not allow him to utter a curse against His people. However, he advised Balak to encourage the Israelites to "...commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled..." (Num 25:1-3, cf. 31:16). "They joined themselves...unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead." (Psalm 106:28) Thus Israel was corrupted from within. This, of course, is exactly what happened to the church during the Period of Compromise. Corrupted flooded in through Constantine's marriage of Paganism with Christendom. Roman Catholicism is as related by Revelation 2:14:

A. Spiritual fornication is committed as at Peor.
There is an unholy mixture of Biblical things
with idolatry and false doctrines.

B. The Eucharist is the eating of sacrifices of
the dead.

2. "So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. (Rev 2:15) Nicolaitans is a Greek word which means "conquerors of the people" (nico = victory + laitan = the people). The word refers to the false apostles mentioned earlier (Rev 2:2). The Nicolaitans sought to establish a hierarchy or ruling class over the rest of the people in the church. The church at Ephesus and the majority of believers of the Apostolic Period (AD 30 to 100) rejected Nicolatianism as unscriptural (Rev 2:2, 6), but by the Compromised Period the movement to establish a hierarchy was well established in corrupted churches and further encouraged by Emperor Constantine. Today it is seen full blown in the Roman Catholic Church. In Catholicism:

A. Apostolic succession of the Pope from Peter is claimed.

B. The Pope is said to be able to speak with the same
authority that Peter and the other apostles did.

C. There is an extensive hierarchy of priests, bishops,
archbishops, cardinals, and the Pope.

3. "...thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. (Rev 2:20) Here the Old Testament Queen Jezebel is used as a type to illustrate corrupt teaching. Jezebel was a Zidonian. The gods of the Zidonians were the goddess Ashtoreth (1 Kings 11:5, 22; 2 Kings 23:13), and Baal (1 Kings 16:30-31). Ashtoreth, the moon goddess, was frequently associated with the name of Baal, the sun-god, their chief male deity (Judg. 10:6; 1 Sam. 7:4; 12:10). Ashtoreth was the Ishtar to the Accadians and the Astarte of the Greeks. She is the false goddest called, "the queen of heaven" (Jer 7:18, 44:17-19, 25). Baal was known to the Israelites as Baal-peor (Num. 25:3; Deut. 4:3). He is identified with Molech (Jer. 19:5), and Molech is also called Moloch ( Amos 5:26), Milcom (1 Kings 11:5), Chemosh (1 Kings 11:7), and Malcham (Zeph. 1:5). Baal, Molech and the other names are just aliases for Satan himself, "the god of this world" (2 Cor 4:4). Christ terms this doctrine of Jezebel as "the depths of Satan" (Rev 2:24). God said, "...I will set my face against...all that...commit whoredom with Molech..." (Lev 20:5) which shows that the primary meaning is spiritual fornication. When King Ahab "...took to wife Jezebel...[he] went and served Baal, and worshipped him" (1 Kings 16:31). Satan's tactics have not changed. Balaam taught Balac to have his idolatrous women seduce and lead astray the Israelites, Jezebel did the same with Ahab, Catholicism is doing the same today.

A. Jezebel persecuted God's man, Elijah, and sought
his life as the Roman Catholic Church has done and
one day will do again to the saints of God.

B. The Roman Catholic Church "calleth herself a
prophetess" in that it claims to speak for God
on Earth.

C. Saved both within and without Romanism are
fooled into committing spiritual fornication and
some are even fooled into partaking in that
abominable Eucharist.

D. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Mary
is the Queen of heaven and that she assists
people in their salvation.

Note: When Christ comes to catch up His people to be with Him the unregenerated people of this apostate religion and the lost of other religions coming into communion with her who are alive at that time will go into the seven year Great Tribulation. The Lord Jesus said, "...I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into Great Tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death..." (Rev 2:21-23) This is why we still find "that woman Jezebel" towards the end of the Great Tribulation in Revelation 17, but under another name.

REVELATION 17:1-18 (MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT):

"And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of *the great whore* that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written,

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND
ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

IDENTIFICATION OF THE WHORE:

1. The colors of Romanism:

Revelation 17:4: "And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour..."

2. The wealth of Romanism:

Revelation 17:4: "And the woman was...decked with gold and precious stones and pearls..."

3. The cup of Romanism:

Revelation 17:4: "And the woman ...[had] a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication."

4. The secrete origin of Romanism:

Revelation 17:5: "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT..."

5. The Protestant offspring of Romanism:

Revelation 17:5: "THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS..."

6. The false teachings of Romanism:

Revelation 17:5: "THE MOTHER OF...ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."

7. The Inquisitions of Romanism:

Revelation 17:6: "I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus."

8. The location of Romanism:

Revelation 17:9: "The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth."

9. The Universalism and Nicolatism of Romanism

Revelation 17:15, 18: "The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues....And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

ROMAN CATHOLIC TRADITION COMPARED WITH THE BIBLE:

The Catholic tradition is listed first, and then what the Bible has to say about the subject.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary never had other children after the Lord Jesus. A perpetual virgin.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary and Joseph indeed had children. They were the Lord's half brothers and sisters for their father was Joseph and mother was Mary.

Matthew 13:55-56 - Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

Mark 6:3 - Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the queen of heaven.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Worshipping the queen of heaven (which is not the Mary of the Bible) is worshipping another god and it provokes the Lord to anger.

Jeremiah 7:17-19 - Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the mother of God.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary is the mother of the earthly Jesus, not God. Jesus pre- existed from everlasting as God (see John 1:1). When He came to redeem mankind, He laid aside His glory and was made like unto sinful man so that He could take our punishment (Hebrew 2:9). God has no mother. He has lived from everlasting which means He had no beginning.

Isaiah 43:10 - Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. [If Mary gave birth to God, she'd be God.]

Psalm 93:2 - Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

Micah 5:2 - But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler [Jesus] in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Philippians 2:6-7 - Who [Jesus], being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - The mass. Through transubstantiation, the wafer/host and the wine supposedly become the actual blood and body of Jesus Christ when the priest prays over them.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Jesus died once for sins, never to be repeated. He sits on the right hand of God and does not reappear in the mass as a mass of blood and flesh.

Hebrews 10:12-18 - But this man [Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

1 Corinthians 11:24 - And when he [Jesus] had given thanks, he brake it [bread], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come (not for the forgiveness of sins or to receive Jesus).

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Saved, in part, by good works.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Good works are the fruits that grow out of being saved. They do not make you saved. An apple does not make its tree an apple tree, it was already an apple tree before any apples appeared. When you see the apples; however, you know what kind of tree it is. If a person is saved, he will shew forth good works because he has the spirit of Christ in him. The good works don't make him saved only the blood of Jesus can do that.

I John 1:7b - ...the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Acts 16:31b - ...believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

Romans 3:24-28 - Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

What about James 2:20 "faith without works is dead"?

The kind of faith that saves is a faith that shows forth the works of God. Even devils believe in Jesus and tremble (James 2:19). Many people believe in Jesus but they won't follow Him. They have a faith, but not the kind that saves. If a person has true faith in Jesus, the Holy Ghost dwells in him and will cause good works will show forth in his life. The good works confirm the faith by which the person was saved. James 2:21-23 uses Abraham as an example. Abraham believed God so when God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham, out of his faith in God, offered up Isaac.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Call priests father, e.g., Father McKinley.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS -

Matthew 23:9 - And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Forbidding the priesthood to marry.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS -

1) It is devilish to forbid God's people to marry when He has given marriage to be received with thanksgiving.

1 Timothy 4:1-3 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

2) Peter was married (remember the pope is supposedly continuing the apostolic line through Peter).

Matthew 8:14 - And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

Mark 1:30 - But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.

Luke 4:38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

3) Paul, a great apostle, remained single; however he made it very clear that he could marry if he wanted to.

1 Corinthians 9:5 - Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Pope called Holy Father.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - The term Holy Father is only found one time in the entire Bible. It was when Jesus prayed before He and His disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane. He referred to God the Father as Holy Father. It is blasphemy to call a man by God's name

John 17:11 - And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Purgatory, nuns, popes.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - None of these is mentioned in the Bible. It is a sin to add to the Bible.

Proverbs 30:6 - Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

The pope is a man who takes upon himself honor which belongs to no human being. Even the very name by which he allows himself to be called (Holy Father) is highly presumptuous and blasphemous (see above).

One does not need the pope to determine what God's will is. The Bible says that God has given the Holy Ghost to each believer and that He (the Holy Ghost) guides and leads us into all truth. All a believer needs is the Bible and the Holy Ghost to know the will of the Lord. Popery has been treacherous, but worse, each pope has been the blind leading the blind. Jesus said that both will fall into the ditch. Catholics, come out of this system that cannot save and know Jesus for youself, intimate and up-close.

NOTE: Purgatory is supposedly a place where a person is purified of sins--even popes supposedly go there. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the one that purifies us of our sins. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.... When a person dies their eternal home is sealed--heaven or hell--no in between. Hebrews 9:27 ...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

* * * *

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Venerating/worshipping images. Pope bows to statues of Mary, people worship the eucharist and have statues/candles in their homes and churches.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - It is idolatry to venerate images. We are not even supposed to make them.

Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God...

CATHOLIC TRADITION - The church is founded on Peter.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Jesus Christ is the foundation of the church. Peter was a man like you and me. Jesus called Peter Satan in Matthew 16:23 when Peter rebuked Jesus dying. When Cornelius tried to worship Peter, Peter responded, "Stand up; I myself also am a man." (Acts 10:26). The pope needs to remember Acts 10:26 when he has men bowing to him and kissing his hand like he is worthy of worship.

1 Corinthians 3:11 - For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Matthew 21:42 - Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected [Jesus], the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Confessing sins to a priest. Petitioning saints and Mary.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - We are to confess our sins and needs to God alone.

I John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Matthew 6:9, 12 - After this manner...pray ye: Our Father... forgive us....

1 Timothy 2:5 - For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus [not Mary, not saints, not priests, not the pope];

I John 2:1 - ...And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

There are many other Scriptures that could have been used here to testify against the doctrines of the Catholic religion. There are also many other doctrines of the Catholic religion which could have been refuted (e.g. the sacraments, receiving the Holy Ghost, salvation through the catholic religion, penance, rosary, etc.).
